The questions parents actually ask
If yours is not here, call me. I would rather answer it now than have you wondering about it on the day.
How much space do you need?
An area about 8 feet by 8 feet is ideal, with room in front of that for the children to sit. Every home is different and my goal is to cause as little disruption as possible. Nothing in the show is messy and nothing can damage your home.
What do I need to provide?
Nothing at all. I arrive completely self-contained and bring all the tables and equipment the show needs.
How long does setup and packing up take?
I arrive about twenty minutes before the show is due to start, and it takes me around ten minutes to pack up at the end.
Can the show be outside?
Indoors is much better. It is a more controlled space, so the show plays better and the children stay focused rather than being pulled in ten directions.
There is also the rabbit to think about. Indoors is better for her health and comfort, and she is part of the Ultimate Show. Tell me your setup and I will be honest with you about whether it will work.
What ages is the show for?
I can entertain any group of children from age 3 to 103, which is only half a joke. The comedy is written so the grown-ups in the room enjoy it as much as the children do.
For older children there is a separate close-up show built for ages 13 and up, using cards, coins, ropes and borrowed objects. It suits a tween or teen party far better than a show aimed at little ones.
Is a deposit required?
Yes. A deposit holds your date and time, which matters because my calendar fills up. Final payment is due on the day of the party, and for your convenience I accept cash, credit, debit, Venmo and PayPal.
Can we take photos and video?
Yes, please do. There are plenty of great moments to capture and a lot of parents are glad afterward that they did.
What if a child is nervous or does not want to take part?
Nobody is ever put on the spot. The show is sensory friendly, so nothing is loud or startling, and no child is ever made the joke. Children who start off hiding behind a parent usually end up in the front row by the end, but that is their choice and not mine.
Does the birthday child get to be involved?
That is the whole point. On both of my shows the birthday child helps me through the tricks and gets the big finish. On the Ultimate Show, they are the one who makes the live rabbit appear, in front of every friend they invited.
I also learn the children's names and use them during the show.
How far do you travel?
I am based in Columbus and I work all over Ohio. Tell me where you are and I will tell you straight away whether it works.
What if we are not happy with the show?
Then you pay nothing. That is my guarantee, with no small print and no conditions. I have been doing this full time for over 35 years and nobody has ever asked me to honor it.
Still have a question?
Ask me here, or just call. I would rather have the conversation than have you guessing.
